It’s an understatement to say he was elated when the University told him he had been accepted with full funding. His chances were slim because more than 200 applicants had applied for 10 openings. When the time came to apply for graduate school, he had his heart set on Bowling Green State University, because its clinical psychology program specializes in religion’s role and importance within the counseling setting, which has been a focus of James’ research. By the time he entered his final semester at UVU, he had published six times, received over $7,500 in grants from the University, and presented his research 18 times at different academic conferences. Draper introduced James to more professors in the Psychology Department who enthusiastically mentored him. During the second semester of his Freshman year, James published a paper with Draper and presented it at academic conferences.ĭr.
